TIGER LAB opens its first shop

Another big cat has now made its home in Stockbridge, following the opening of a branch of stationery shop Paper Tiger, a few months ago.

The new feline in town is TIGER LAB Scents, which specialises in scented candles.   

TIGER LAB first started in 2021, when founder Alex Watt was keeping busy during lockdown, by redecorating her home. When buying candles, it got her thinking about whether she could make them herself. This led to wondering whether she could create a new business – and she did.

Alex started selling TIGER LAB candles online and in Socially Painted,  the salon that she owns with her husband, where he is the hairdresser and she is the nail technician. 

As well as candles, the shop, which is on St Stephen Street, stocks diffusers, body lotions and room sprays. There’s a wide range of scents available, with intriguing names such as ‘obsessed’, ‘Havana’ and ‘girls who brunch’. 

Alex reveals that her current favourite TIGER LAB scent is TLC (‘tiger loving care’), which features salted lavender and cedar wood: “It’s refreshing and not too heavy or floral,” she explains. Visitors might like to know that it’s the scent on the diffuser in the shop at the moment.

What’s next for TIGER LAB? Alex says: “There are no plans for any more shops right now, but never say never”.
