The Black Grape restaurant on Canongate has been announced as a finalist in two categories of the 2024 SLTN Awards.
The restaurant, which is coming up for its second anniversary, has been shortlisted in the wine of the year award. This accolade will be awarded to a venue with “an exceptional wine list and a knowledgeable and engaged team”.
Murray Ainslie, managing director at The Black Grape. is also in the running for the licensee of the year award.
The restaurant won SLTN’s best new business award in 2023.
Considering some of The Black Grape’s strengths, Murray says: “We change our list regularly to champion new products and work closely with our suppliers to ensure we have unique and interesting wines”.
His current favourites come from the eastern Mediterranean region: “I’m loving all things Greek,” he confirms: “We’ve got a cracking Assyrtiko and a big Xinomavro on the wine list.
“We’re also running a Greek wine dinner on 29 October, to champion these wines.”
The SLTN awards ceremony takes place on 7 November, at The Hilton, Glasgow.
