Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE), the representative body for the financial-services industry in Scotland has welcomed the Law Society of Scotland to its membership.

The Society has rejoined SFE, having been a member of the organisation some years ago.

SFE now has 121 members, representing an increase of 50 per cent in the last three years. The Bank of England, BlackRock and the University of Edinburgh are some of its current members. Firms joining SFE in 2024 include the Edinburgh Futures Institute.

SFE recently launched getinto.finance, a digital platform aimed at encouraging more people, particularly those from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds, to learn more about career opportunities, qualifications and employers in the financial-services sector.

Chief executive, Sandy Begbie commented: “Scotland’s hugely talented workforce is one of the main reasons so many financial and professional-services firms are choosing to locate here.

“But people of all ages, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, are missing out on a rewarding career in the sector because they do not believe they have the skills or qualifications to succeed.

getinto.finance aims to challenge these views and encourage more people to learn about what the sector does, the role it plays in our economy, the variety of opportunities available and the skills and qualifications required.”
