It’s fair to say that Hectors has achieved the accolade of Stockbridge ‘institution’ as a longstanding and popular fixture on the corner of St Bernard’s Row. The news is that it’s recently had a makeover and is celebrating with a relaunch party, with live music, on Thursday 10 October, from 6pm onwards.
In the meantime, diners planning to visit for Sunday lunch, to check out Hectors’ new look, can choose from either a chicken, beef or nut and vegetable roast. All are accompanied by roast potatoes, glazed parsnips, thyme-roasted carrots, broccoli, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. If you have any space left after that, the cranachan or caramel-biscuit torte with caramel sauce might beckon.
Just dropping by for a cocktail? As well as traditional favourites such as negronis, mojitos and Long Island iced tea, spritzes are on the menu too, including ‘Bee’s Bounty Spritz’ which combines gin, lemon, honey syrup and Prosecco. Nicholson’s Pub in Edinburgh | Hector's (nicholsonspubs.co.uk)
