An online magazine for and about small businesses, micro businesses, sole traders, freelancers - and bigger businesses
A new chocolate shop, with a difference, has opened in Leith’s Maritime Street.
La Chocolaterie, launched by Marie Auriac, specialises in creating hand-made chocolate logs, from a family recipe.
Marie also uses local ingredients such as Scottish sea salt, heather honey and whisky, to create Scottish-themed versions of the logs.
One of the shop’s most popular products so far is the ‘Marcelle’, named after Marie’s grandmother. This chocolate log is available in milk, dark or white chocolate and is combined with pistachios, salted butter biscuits and orange-blossom honey.
Marie, who is originally from Madagascar, worked for Lindt and Hotel Chocolat when she first moved to the UK, which spurred her ambition to run her own chocolate business.
She already has plans for growth, as she explains: “I adore Leith and dream of expanding my shop into a cosy cafe.”
