Are you thinking of learning a new skill this autumn? Research shows that this can boost wellbeing. There are many night-school classes and weekend courses to choose from, teaching the skills of photography, art and cookery, to name just a few.
Woodwork is another – and students attending The Chippendale International School of Furniture have the added bonus of learning their new skill in the surroundings of the scenic East Lothian countryside.
Since the School was founded, nearly 40 years ago, 750 students from all around the world have attended, to learn how to design and create bespoke furniture, as well as how to restore antiques.
Over the weekend of 26-27 October, the School is running a wooden-spoon carving course, where attendees will make a salt spoon, a coffee scoop and salad servers. It costs £350, and tools and materials are provided Weekend courses - Chippendale School of Furniture.
